Three stages of the life of cockroaches

Every genre of cockroaches lives in particular environments and has a different lifespan. Things consumed by cockroaches can determine their lifespan. Cockroaches are not indestructible, but adaptable. They require a favorable environment to reproduce and a suitable temperature.

They seek easy access to food and live where they hide and thrive. They have the following three stages of life.

  • Adults

Cockroaches mate after three to seven days prior the female lays eggs. An ootheca is an egg casing produced by the female cockroach which uses its salvia to adhere to such an egg case to the surface and keep it hidden somewhere.

There is a cockroach larva inside every ootheca.

In general, cockroaches hide their eggs and young within pantries, under sinks and other places.  Nymph is a larva after the eggs gestate and the larva in them grow which takes place nearly one month to hatch. The young cockroaches go through various stages, shed their skin and grow as large as possible. The appearance of the cockroach larva varies as per the species.

Oriental cockroaches are adapted to the cold climate and preferring to live in the area with the temperate range between 68 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Male and female Oriental cockroaches have the lifespan of 160 and 180 days.

Adult American male and female cockroaches live up to 362 and 700 days respectively. German cockroaches live less than 200 days.
